Client onboarding

Welcome aboard. Here's everything
we need to get you found.

About fifteen minutes, and your phone is fine. It saves as you go, so you can stop between jobs and pick it back up on the same device.

8 short stepsMostly tapsSaves as you go

Our promise

No passwords. Ever. You give us access with invites you control, and you can remove us any time.

We never ask for a password or a card number, and you stay the owner of every account.

  • Not sure? Skip it. Tap not sure or leave it blank. Anything you skip, we cover on the kickoff call.
  • Your words beat polished ones. Short answers, typos, the way you'd say it on site. That's exactly what we want.

Step 1 of 8You and the business

Step 1 of 8

You and the business

So we know who we're talking to, and where your Friday report goes. Fields marked * are the only ones we need.

Your Friday report comes here.

Exactly as it's on your van and invoices.

Your role
Your trade

Tick all that apply.

Years in business
Team size, including you
Best way to reach you day to day

A business partner, office manager, whoever does the books. Their name, email, and what they handle.

Step 2 of 8

The work you want more of

This sets your main Google category, the searches your ads chase, and the ones we block so you never pay for the wrong calls.

One per line, the way a customer would say it. Blocked drains. Hot water cylinder replacement. Deck builds.

This usually becomes your main Google category, the single biggest ranking decision we make.

Jobs you don't do, or don't want more of. We'll stop your ads showing for them.

Who you mostly work for
What a typical job is worth

A rough number is fine. It tells us what one new customer is really worth to you.

Emergency or after hours work

For example, flat out October to December, dead in July. We push harder before the quiet patch, not during the rush.

Step 3 of 8

Where and when you work

Google ranks you by area, so your ads should only run where you'll actually drive, and when someone can pick up.

Suburb and town.

How customers deal with you

If you work from home and go out to customers, Google hides your address. We set that up for you.

How far you'll travel for a job

For example, Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm, and Saturday mornings. Ads work best when someone can actually pick up.

Who answers the phone
When a call gets missed
How much more work you could take on right now

Be straight with us. Filling your phone when you can't answer it is worse than a quiet week.

Step 4 of 8

How jobs come in and get won

This shapes what your ads say, and tells us what to watch in your numbers.

Where your work comes from now

Tick all that apply.

How you quote
Out of 10 quotes, how many go ahead?

Price, they went quiet, someone got there first. Whatever it usually is.

The moment that made them pick up the phone. Water through the ceiling. Tenants moving in Friday. The old heat pump finally died.

In their words if you can remember them. The last guy never turned up. I don't want to get ripped off.

What you use to quote, invoice or book jobs

Handy for getting your review link onto your invoices.

Step 5 of 8

Proof and trust

New Zealand has no Google badge that vouches for tradies, so reviews, credentials and real photos do that job. We only ever mention what you give us here.

Roughly how many Google reviews you have
How you get reviews now
Licences, memberships and insurance

We'll only mention what you actually hold. Claiming a membership you don't have is a Fair Trading Act problem, for you and for us.

Only what you already offer. For example, workmanship guaranteed for five years.

A big before and after, a tricky fix, a customer who's stuck with you for ten years. A few lines is plenty.

Photos

10 to 20 real photos: finished jobs, before and afters, you and the team, the van. Phone photos beat stock photos every time.

Send them to mack@intergenmarketing.com with your business name in the subject.

No stress. We'll plan an easy way to get some on the kickoff call.

Logo

The colours on your van or signage. Words are fine.

Step 6 of 8

Competition and what you've tried

So we know who we're up against, and what not to repeat.

Extra keywords stuffed into their business name, or reviews that look fake. Google can correct these when they're reported, and reporting them is part of what we do.

Marketing you've paid for before

The honest version. What worked, what didn't, and what annoyed you.

Locked into a marketing contract right now?

Two companies working the same ad account causes chaos, so we'll plan around it.

For example, never call us cheap, don't put prices in ads, no photos of the team.

Step 7 of 8

Accounts and access

Everything here is an invite you send or accept. You stay the owner of every account.

Your Google Business Profile The one that matters most

Do you have one? It's your listing on Google Maps.

If you know. It's often an old Gmail, or whoever built your website.

Add us as a manager. Two minutes on a computer.

  1. Go to business.google.com and open your profile.
  2. Click More, then Business Profile settings, then People and access.
  3. Click Add and enter mack@intergenmarketing.com
  4. Under Access, choose Manager. You stay the owner.
  5. Click Invite.

Menus look different, or it won't let you? Skip it. We'll do it together on the kickoff call.

How did it go?

Really common, no stress. We'll track it down, or set one up with you, on the kickoff call.

Google Ads

Do you have a Google Ads account?

Google will email that address an access request from InterGen Marketing. Open it and click Accept request. That's all.

We'll set one up in your name on the kickoff call. You add your own card straight into Google, so your ad money never passes through us.

Google sometimes asks the account owner to verify the business. That's done directly with Google, and we never need your ID.

Facebook and Instagram

Who can manage your Facebook page?

A former staff member, a web company, a family member. Just so we know who to ask.

Ever boosted a post or run Facebook ads?

We'll connect Facebook together on the kickoff call. Meta changes its menus constantly, so doing it live takes five minutes instead of a week of emails.

Your website

Who looks after your website?

We don't make changes to your website. We check it and give you a short list of anything costing you enquiries, so it helps to know who can sort it.

Where do enquiries from your website go?
Google Analytics or Search Console on your site?

No idea is the most common answer. Totally fine.

Step 8 of 8

Budget, reports and your voice

The last few decisions, then you're done.

Monthly ad budget

Separate from our fee. It goes from your card straight to Google and Meta. We never hold it and never take a cut.

You're already on it. Add anyone else's email here.

Want to see ads before they go live?
Replies to your Google reviews

We reply to your good reviews in your business's name. For an unhappy review, we send you a calm draft reply first, because it's your customer and your call.

For example, Cheers, Dave. Or just the business name.

A text or email, copied as is, typos and all. It's how we match your voice in review replies and ads.

For example, cheap, solutions, bespoke.

Best times for your kickoff call

45 minutes to an hour. Tick all that work.

Video or phone?
Can we record the call?

Recording means nothing you say gets lost, and your strategy gets built from your own words. We keep it only while we work together, and delete it within 12 months of finishing.

New services, a new van, a big contract ending, anything at all.

By sending this you agree to our privacy policy.
